Frequently Asked Questions

– What is a Deva haircut?

A Deva haircut is a specialized haircut for naturally wavy, curly and supercurly hair. The technique is customized for each guest depending on your curl type/pattern.

– How is a Deva haircut different from a traditional haircut?

A Deva haircut takes a truly personalized approach to you and your curls. One of our Curl Specialists will start by creating shape, then cleanse your hair while teaching you proper product application for soft, touchable, frizz free hair.

– How do I need to wear my hair when I come in for a Deva haircut?

To get the most out of your Deva haircut, we recommend you come in with your hair clean, dry, and down in its most natural state. Please do not come in with your hair pulled back in a ponytail, bun or headband because we won’t be able to see where your curls naturally fall.

– What is a DevaCurl Transformation service?

It is the opportunity for us to show you how your curls can be transformed through proper cleansing, hydration, and styling using our Deva Curl products. Consider it your personal hair styling lesson!

– What is Balayage?

A French word meaning “to sweep,” balayage is a specialty highlighting technique used to create a gradual, natural looking effect with a soft grow out.

– What is Ombre?

Ombre is a look created by the transition of a darker shade to a lighter shade.

– Why do I need to schedule a consultation if I want a fashion shade or a dramatic color change?

We schedule a complimentary consultation to ensure a better understanding of the timing and services needed to create your desired color.  We need to assess your current hair color, health of your hair and end result you want. These transitions can take multiple visits and a minimum of 4-10 hours depending on the process.

– Are you a child friendly salon?

The safety and comfort of all our guests is our top priority. While we are child-friendly outside of the studio, we ask that you make other arrangements for your children while receiving services with us. Young children can impact other guests’ experience as well as affect the salon environment and the services we offer. The layout of the salon does not allow us to accommodate strollers and carriers. Not only will you relax more easily, our other guests will as well. Children 12 & older are welcome to receive services at our studio.

– What methods of payment do you take?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Cash, and Check. We cannot add gratuity onto credit cards.

– What if I want to see a different stylist from my previous visits at Shine?

At Shine Hair Color & Design Studio we perform as a team. We encourage you to try the many talented stylists we have at our studio. If you prefer one stylist, great! If you would like to try someone different or it works best for your schedule, we encourage you to try any member on our team.

– Where can I park?

Our parking lot is located behind our building. There is an entrance on Rosewood Drive as well as on South Holly Street.  The parking spaces near the South Holly Street entrance are available to our guests, as well as the spaces located directly behind our building.
